- Oh its starting again, this is early. That was the advice my 80 yr old patient said to me today when he found out I dont have a significant other for V-day coming up.
He even added, "if I was alot younger.... I'd be going after you..." haha - hopefully not in a creepy way - all older ppl say that when they feel sorry for ya that you dont have someone.

Im supposed to go out with some friends this weekend and thought that it was pretty far away from that day that I wouldnt have to be bombarded with the Vday stuff for the weekend. But now Im second guessing that thought.

Anyways Im going to randomly name off 3 things that I like about that day - or that relate to Valentines day - since it is unavoidable:

1. The fact that the senior patient referrs to his gf as his "Lady-friend" - I love that term! Its an older term and I find it sweet. Much better than girl-friend. When I heard my cousin (who is younger than me) refer to his gf (now wife) that way, I thought that was so cute!

There. I said it all. Now Im going to brace myself for yet another Vday.

My average 1st date convo.....

Dude and I talking in front of my parked car at the end of the date:

dude: hey, so whats that on your back seat? (peeking in through the window at the car ice scraper)
me: oh you know.... a shovel, mask, and gloves....
me and dude at the same time: .........the usual 1st date things.

Awwwww.... we finish each others sentences!

So not sure if I should post this. Its more of my wacky over thinking of things.

Shopping at Holts (not from me)
Mortgages
Mortgage Brokers
Banks
Bicuriousness
Racist Stereotypes
Religion and Pentecostals talking tongues
Politics
Socialism
Conservatism
Occupy protestors
Those close to us that have passed away
Tragic and horrific deaths
(mind you these convos included eating messy wings on the first date)
Zit talk with one even taking out a pocket sized clearasil treatment gel
Shovel, gloves and masks in the back seat of the car being usual 1st date stuff to bring (my car)
Asianophilia or Yellow fever
Weird friendships with ppl of the opposite sex who we would never date
and an awkward moment when he just realized Im only 1 yr younger than him... instead of 8 yrs younger.

Hummmmm, I think he is a keeper ;)

....If YOU feel this way about ME.   What can I say... Im simply just unforgettable like that  !

Rejection. But be kind.

Aw man, I hate this.
Have to reject the date I went out with.
Just cause I have been rejected before, I know that you should be kind and honest.
But sometimes being the rejector is just as difficult as being the rejectee?

I never liked the chicken/immature way of just saying you will call then never calling.... its horrible to be left hanging. But now I can fully understand it - less painful on the rejectors part. Especially since being the rejector always makes you feel like a HORRIBLE person.

I asked a friend what I should say to the previous date and these are some of the things he came up with:

• Sorry I dont have interests in going out again
• Its just not good for me now
• Sorry, I dont want to continue seeing you
• I dont feel like I can enjoy more than one time with you
• I dont feel that it was fun that time
• I would rather watch cats shitting                                     - D.P

Lesson in Physics: Like does not attract like

So get this.
Im Asian.
So Im short, Tiny, Petite, slim-ish. All the rest of those physical stereotypes that go with being Asian. Well, except maybe minus the shy-giggle-fits-with-my-hand-covering- my-mouth sort of thing.


So why is it do I get set ups with similar type guys?!?!?
Really? Is what I described above what you would call "manly". A man's man?


Date night was a bust.
Lets be honest, sometimes .... or most times ..... you can tell right away whether its a yay or nay. Great personalities are wonderful, and a blessing, great rappore even better.... but in basics.... there has to be some attraction there. Sure attraction can grow on ya like a fungus, but only in neutral situations is it possible. It isnt possible in blind date/ date/ set up situations.


Lets put it simply this way..... The other night I got together with my friends. One of the Mikes described how at his work, if there are just two guys sitting in a room, and a gal walks by... the convo between the guys is pretty simple, only two words ....
"Would ya?"
(yes yes sounds like a very piggish-guy thing to do, but play along with me now)


Sooooo I think that when setting up a fellow person with another person - that is all you have to ask yourself. "would ya?"


Dont think " well, they shouldnt be picky at this point, and they should just focus on personality"

Because.......... if "you wouldnt" ...............then why the *%&% would I?

Date Night

A friend of mine wanted me to meet this "really great guy" ..... a friend of her husbands.
She actually described him as " Cute greek guy".
Hummmm
So many issues I have with set-ups the stories can go on....
The bad teeth
The metrosexual
The 'keep it in the family' set ups
.......
Lets chalk it up to friends that are trying to be well-meaning friends.....

Sort of.
I can also go on with the convolutions that often are mixed up with these set ups.... like the married/ taken gf that really wishes to be with someone else... so she sets you up with them. Or the married or taken dude that really wants to date you but cant. ....

Man.... so why am I yet again agreeing to this??

Partly because I dont want to hear "well this is why you are single....."
And also because I realize instead of living life I often convince myself out of doing things.
And also because there are so many past people that are hanging on or that Im hanging on to that I really need to clear off my slate. New people are welcome.
And also because ...... well, why not?!

Dont think, just do.
And do as I will.... we will see how tonight turns out.
