Infantalize

yes, another word I wish was in my Jossepidia files.

Among the whole #metoo movement, I forget which female (I think it was Condoleeza Rice) it was that warned to be careful not to infantilize women during this movement. Meaning baby them or make them out to be more helpless than the actual injustices do.

Along with this movement there is a deeper resurgence of the #girlpower movement.
A lot of companies are jumping on this bandwagon. In good ways and some... well I question the sincerity of.

Cases in point:

Girl Doritos
and
Jane Walker

Kudos to the companies being more aware of having more of a female representation in their companies and hopefully paying at par as well.
But changing the brand to make it more "female friendly" seems a bit  very condescending and patronizing.

These have not been brands that said Men only or not for women. Even if they were implied at some point (never for Doritos) in the ice ages, they aren't now. Similar to GOLF (though that name's origin actually forbade women from playing and squash and hockey. All used to be mostly or only for men but has been slowly taken over so all sexes can enjoy.
Here's the thing with this new "for women too branding":  Women actually already eat doritos and drink whisky. We will regardless of "girlying" it up. In fact, girlying it up makes the separation of the sexes more distinct and yes, infantilizes women.

So if your company has some insincere motive to jump on the #metoo movement just for their own profit rather than actually supporting equality - here's more news - I see right through it. Don't do it if you don't mean it.

Insincerity is one of my huge pet peeves!!

In follow up to my last post. Great Olympics from the little I saw and despite the death threats and team-made shunning. Good Job to the USA gals hockey for defeating my beloved Canadian Reigning Champions. (Boo though for us losing). I watched the beginning of the game and could tell they were in for a hard one. And as much as I do not like watching skating because it seems so subjective ... Tessa and Scott - not only a gold metal beautiful, sexy skate between them, but gosh, the way she looks at him, and how they are together... I was swept away!

The only time I am really excited for hockey...

Is during the Winter Olympics.
Fights eliminated makes things so much more enjoyable!!!

Well Peter Rabbit (movie 2018) you out did yourself.

How wonderful all this controversy is bringing more attention to your movie.

I will admit, I did not watch it.

What bothers me most is the same ignorance that I have talked about before when it comes to kids with Food allergies.

And specifically anaphylactic food allergies.

For the stupid - that means that the allergic reaction that occurs is severe, often causing a swelling of the throat, and the kid cannot breathe, then dies.

The kid Dies.

For the even more stupid out there that means DEATH.

So to all the fuck-tards that are saying "its just a kids movie, its just an animated (ie. not real) movie, or that it is just a bunch of bunnies... get over it, grow up, you are being overly sensitive...."
You can all fuck the hell off!

Its obvious you cannot change stupid.

Until you have a son or a daughter or a niece or nephew that you love very much,  who has to be careful of things they eat or has to be constantly aware of the food they put into their mouths at restaurants or in the school cafeteria or when even sharing snacks with friends or birthday parties, or when they go to relatives houses and worrying about them when they leave the house or go off on their own on school trips .... because they can simply die by just having that food accidentally, then having the additional kids who either make fun of them or who roll their eyes or who have ignorant parents like you who call this a burden to their kid.... then you will understand. Or heck, maybe you are that self centred and selfish you still would not care. So go on thinking it is no big deal.
