nicest and bestest

....Evar! (even though I despise the "ever" comments that have been highly over used in todays society, I think this time it is fitting)

Just got off the phone with a dietician colleague and I just think she's one of the most wonderful people one can meet.

So genuine and sweet and open and kind. How lovely is that?

I don't even know her that well, nor does my work have me interacting with her that much at all, but even just a simple hello in meetings or in the hallway. I think some people are just walking rays of light and they just don't know it.

And thats just an amazing thing.

You can't pinpoint what it is, but somehow they manage exude a welcoming, friendly, humble, vibe, that is not fake, thoughtless, detached or insincere. Its not that they are walking with painted smiles on their faces, but secretly hiding a pain or over compensating for some other darker reasons. They are there in the present to everyone they interact with.

I know of a social worker colleague that is the same way and my own coworker is probably the same way but I'm used to him. I also have an old highschool friend that is similar and a long time friend I met in Italy when I was younger. Is it sad that I can count these people on one hand? Maybe I'm not looking hard enough, or maybe I focus too much on the bad around me.

Anyways, they certainly do inspire so much that I realize I should shift my perspective on those around me.....

Ordered me some Pulp Kitchen Almond Beet Salad for lunch today.
Is it wrong that I mostly look forward to the dressing than the greens?
Thought so.
Gotta kick this sugar addiction...

Dates

So I've had a lot of dates lately.


Whoo me! Bow-chuka-wow-wow !wink wink*

Just kidding.


The food, dates, that is.

(I know, just as exciting right?)

I have made these energy date balls with quinoa puffs, hemp hearts, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, cranberries, goji berries, cinnamon, cocoa, and coconut flakes..... all healthy stuff and a good amount of sweet to substitute for chocolate bars and all the bad tasty stuff that I crave.


So my big announcement for this post is that -  I have concluded,
that dates act like prunes in our bodies.....

........AAand that is all I am going to say about that.

kissssss

I've become a blob.

But I was down 2 lbs this morning and thought...
heeey let's keep this ball'a'rollin....
*snaps fingers and does the double gun point to you (which is to me, in the mirror)*

I got no bad food layin around so great day ahead right right??

Even brought me some veggies for lunch and goji berries to snack on throughout the day and some gluten free crackers.....

looookin goooood!


Then at the end of the day my coworker gives me a full bag of these:

From a patient of course.

Well, pat me on the back.. because I resisted!
....I said he can keep the second bag from the patient and I will keep the first bag...

So I thought,
Hey, I was good all day.... I'll just have 1.


Which became 1 plus 0.


Which obviously is 10. Right.
*blank stare*




GAHHHHHHH..... got to start all over again!!!!


bedding continued....

Been checking out Groupon for a bunch of stuff I really don't need.

And since I have a thing for bedding sets, I pay more attention to that.

but....

20 Piece sets?!?@?$

When you have more than 4 pillows on a bed for only 1-2 people, is the bed really for the people or for just the pillows themselves?

Sooo impractical.

(not to mention not good Feng Shui)

Happy VD Day

(ha, Yea, theres an extra D there, I like saying it that way, always makes me chuckle.)

I'm wearing red today, with my gold hearts.

Yesterday at dinner, I went to the resto washroom and there was a posted ad on the back of the washroom stall door. So I sat there reading.... which maybe made for some awkward extra time in the loo....

It read:

......as awkwardly, anti-social and introvert as I am, apart from my "alone reflections", surprisingly I always welcome a good connected conversation..... REAL Connection is key. Look for it. Maybe an appropriate topic for this day.....

lemongrass tea

The nutritionist from a Raw Thai cooking class I went to said how lemongrass is antiviral and anti-bad stuff etc (as most claim everything is, I presume).
Anyhow, bought a whole bunch for the recipes she gave us, but instead used most for tea.
Yummy!
A lot of contradictory stuff online about it though, so long as I dont overdose on it I guess it should be ok...
What a great find.
